Small Business Funding
  • BDC Capital: pools money from many financial institutions to share the risks of helping promising companies expand. BDC Capital provides financial assistance with loans, mezzanine and equity investments, guarantees, and financial services to businesses of every type and description.

  • CT Center for Advanced Technology:  provides grants to start-up companies that are housed in Connecticut incubator facilities through the Small Business Incubator Grant Program.

  • Connecticut Community Investment Corporation (CTCIC): provides access to capital that may not be available elsewhere as well as financing opportunities for expanding businesses looking to purchase real estate and/or machinery and equipment.

  • CT Innovations: is a quasi-public organization that serves as Connecticut’s strategic venture capital arm. Working in partnership with a number of public/private partners,  CI offers strategic guidance, timely connections and equity investments to help promising businesses thrive.

  • CT Small Business Boost Fund: provides small business owners access to flexible funding for capital expenditures and working capital and connects them with support services. Depending on eligibility and need, small businesses can borrow between $5,000 and $500,000. 

  • Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF): provides loans and technical assistance to small businesses, primarily in low-to-moderate income communities, who are not able to obtain traditional bank financing.

  • Manufacturing Assistance Act: to support manufacturing projects that offer strong economic development potential, the State of Connecticut passed the Manufacturing Assistance Act, which funds direct loans to growing, eligible economic-based businesses.

  • Small Business Express Program: is an expedited business service that provides loans and grants to Connecticut’s small business with the goal of spurring job creation and local economic growth.

  • U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Funding Programs: supports access to loans and loan guarantees through lending institutions.

  • TechXel Stamford Accelerator: prepares early stage business to business ventures for angel ro seed funding. The program includes 12 weeks of mentoring, an evening fundraiser, and 5 hours of pitch and question practice.
